From the shores of a small Scottish Island to homes near and far.

Our Story

Arranach barrel furniture Co. are situated in Ashlar, Machrie, Isle of Arran, close to the famous standing stones. A former milking shed and horse stables is now home to our barrel products which range from porridge spurtles to bottle openers and clocks to benches, shoe racks and even standard lamps to name but a few in the range.

John Divine, resident craftsman, has many years experience in woodworking and cabinetmaking. A former tourguide at Lochranza Distillery, John has also held the post of stillsman in both Lochranza and then Lagg distilleries . This intimate knowledge of whisky making and cabinetmaking are the perfect blend to create a company such as Arranach barrel furniture.

Here in Machrie, we lovingly create a range of barrel products from spent casks which used to hold the unique and beautiful Arran single malt whisky. You can find many products in our small showroom and at outlets on the island. You will soon also be able to view and purchase products in our online shop but this will not be until early 2021. Should you wish to purchase items in the meantime, please get in touch by phone, email, text or Messenger. Items purchased can be sent to mainland UK destinations and P+P will be calculated and added to the cost of your purchase. Other items that you may not find in the shop can be made by special request. Please drop us a line describing the piece that you would like.

A holiday on Arran packs in a lot of flavour - taste your way around the island as you try creamy cheeses, refreshing beers, traditional oatcakes, tempting chocolates and delicious ice cream. Book a tour at one or both of the Arran Distilleries to discover the secrets behind the distilling process before sampling a dram of malt whisky or the creamy liqueur Arran Gold. Afterwards browse through the incredible Arranach products (made from used whisky barrels) and take something home to remind you of your amazing trip.
